Church
of
Scientific Humanism
This symbol of the Church of
Scientific Humanism is more than a pretty logo. It is a complete
explanation of our goal as People and our mission as a Church.
We
understand that Human consciousness has Three
Aspects: Sentience, Wonder,
Awe.
We
understand the Three Aspects of Human consciousness interact with each
other. These conjunctions are the Three
Precepts:
Be
Nice to Other People
Seek
Knowledge to Determine Truth

Obey
All Just Laws, Regulations and Rules
We recognize that Balance
among the Three Aspects and the Three Precepts is necessary to achieve
Harmony. We utilize the Triangle
of Spiritual Force to achieve this Balance.

We understand that this struggle to achieve
balance is an ongoing process that can never truly be achieved. We
recognize this by our maxim:
This slogan is an acronym: S for Sentience; A for
Awe; W for Wonder. When A Person says I SAW, he or she is declaring
their personal struggle to achieve Balance among the three Aspects of their
consciousness.
We recognize this struggle with a hand gesture
made by creating the Triangle of Spiritual Force with our steepled
fingers and thumb tips. By these Words and these Signs we recognize each
other.
Although each of us strives to achieve
Harmony in our
personal lives, we have a greater goal. This goal is Fulfillment,
which can only be achieved by serving all mankind. This is the Mission
of all members of the Church of Scientific Humanism.
The Mission of the
Church of Scientific Humanism is
expressed within the Triangle of Spiritual Force as contained with the
Circle of Life, as follows:
In
Your
Lifetime
Make This
A Better World
