The
Imbalance
When the Aspect of Awe overwhelms all other the other forces that produce Human consciousness, the result is Dread. Dread is the overblown sense of doom, which diminishes the Aspect of Sentience and the Aspect of Wonder. As they are lessened within the circle of of a person's life, so do those aspects of consciousness that depend upon them. Without Sentience, a Person has no sense of knowledge. Such a person believes that he/she is unable to control his or her own thoughts. Without Wonder, a person fails to sense the world around oneself. Such a Person comes to believe that the world controls his or her destiny. The Precept of Obey Laws is diminished. This Precept depends upon the conjunction of Sentience and Awe. The importance of this precept is diminished because the Aspect of Sentience is lessened in proportion to its importance. When Awe becomes Dread, then the Person believes that an all powerful universe dominates all life. In the same way, the Precept of Be Nice depends on the conjunction between Awe and Wonder. The importance of this precept is diminished because the Aspect of Wonder is lessened in proportion to its importance. As Awe turns to Dread, a Person believes that relationships are predetermined by forces beyond his or her control. The Precept of Seek Knowledge is virtually extinguished. This Precept depends on the conjunction between Sentience and Wonder. Both of these Aspects have been diminished. As Awe turns to Dread, the Person feels that he or she is incapable of perceiving the world as it is and that he/she can never understand it. A Person feels utterly powerless, at the mercies of forces which can never be understood or controlled. |
