Seek Knowledge to Determine TruthThe second Precept is Seek Knowledge to Determine Truth. This Precept is formed by the conjunction of the Aspects of Wonder and Sentience.
Sentience is the Aspect of Human consciousness that is our source of knowledge of ourselves and our surroundings. Sentience is the seat of knowledge, and the abode of our memories. Yet, by itself, the Aspect of Sentience, does not drive us to seek knowledge. Wonder is the Aspect of Human consciousness that is our sense of newness, joy and curiosity about the things around us. We want to know about all the things that inhabit our world because of the Aspect of Wonder. Yet, Wonder does not store our knowledge nor hold our memories. The conjunction of the Aspects of Wonder and of Sentience is synergistic. The Aspect of Wonder provides the inspiration to solve unknowns. The Aspect of Sentience provides the knowledge and memory. Together, Wonder and Sentience demand that we seek knowledge to understand the world and to answer the questions raised by our own curiosity. The Precept of Seek Knowledge is formed by the conjunction of the Aspects of Wonder and of Sentience. When Yellow and Blue are mixed, the resulting color is Green. Therefore, the Precept of Seek Knowledge is depicted as an Green circle. |
