SentienceThe first Aspect of Human consciousness is Sentience.
Sentience is a Person's sense of self. It is a Person's awareness of their thought processes, their feelings and of their five senses. Sentience exists within the Human mind. It is the seat of knowledge. It is the abode of memory. It is the central locus of the mind, feelings and sensations. A Person knows that he or she is alive because of sentience. Sentience is a Person's ability to relate the past, present and future. A Person can avoid danger, develop contingency plans and consider alternatives because of sentience. A Person's knowledge of their mortality is a result of sentient thought. The Aspect of Sentience is depicted as a Blue circle. The circle reminds us that sentience is limited to the mind and does not extend into the world around us. The color Blue reminds us that Sentience is the Aspect involved with knowledge, thinking and the mental processing of information. |
